Whenever I read a resume, I find myself trying to map work experiences to skills, and things can get lost in translation that way. This doc is a more direct attempt to tell you why you’d really want to hire me.

(Looking for my ordinary résumé?)

Who I am

I’m Steve Landey, a software engineer in San Francisco. I’ve been programming since I was 12 and have made dozens of side projects that include video games, documentation systems, iOS apps, and consumer-facing SaaS web sites. I play drums in a band. At the moment, I work for Asana on the Mobile Foundations team.

What I’m looking for

I want to apply my skills with maximum leverage to set an engineering team up for success, while learning new skills from other experienced people and having an eye on growing my career. I could be a great fit if your mobile or web frontend team is feeling growing pains, or you need a very experienced multi-skilled engineer in a critical place. I’m strictly looking for staff and principal roles.

In other words, I’m looking for a company that disproportionately values my collection of skills, and has opportunities to expand them.

I will work remotely, or within a 45 minute bike or transit commute from my home in San Francisco. This is a hard requirement unless comp is extremely good.

I’m open to but very skeptical of early-stage startups.
